I’m fixing a hole where the oil gets in*, and stops my ride from wandering
Where it will go

-

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I’m filling the cracks that ran through the floor, and kept my ride from wandering
Where it will go

-

Kinja'd!!!

And it really doesn’t matter welded wrong or right
Where it belongs it’s right
Where it belongs

-

See the people standing there with no Galaxie, who never win
And wonder why they don’t get in my door

-

Kinja'd!!!

I’m painting the floor for a colorful weave, so where my ride is wandering
There I will go

-

Silly people with Mazda 3s, who run around, with coolant leaks**, and never ask if they can help out with my floor

-

Kinja'd!!!

I’m getting things primed for a number of things that weren’t installable yesterday
And I still go

-

I’m fixing a hole where the oil gets in, and stops my ride from wandering
Where it will go
Where it will go

* There was literally oil coming into the floorboards. From a bad rear main, it exits the bellhousing right on the passenger side, where it was slowly coming through holes. One reason I was sure to JB Weld any possible pores after welding and treating with rust converter undercoat.

**A friend of mine who is a welder by trade was in the shop for work on his Mazda, but mostly was hanging around. And while I was talking to him, floorboards were not happening.

Some might ask why I didn’t buy new steel instead of just raw-beating a piece into shape. Well, the new pieces are 18GA, *which is heavier than original*, and with the weak old metal it wouldn’t be symmetric. Also, the floors are flat because it’s a bench car, and the replacements are for “molded footwell” cars. Also, the floors being flat, it was not hard to make the piece, and I needed to replace more than the repair pieces cover, and...

Bottom line, it was time to break out the hammer.

I also had to patch the driver’s side. Not as much, though.

It was a hefty Estwing brick hammer. 20oz, maybe.

Memories of Flintstone Fairlane floors! Haven’t Oppo’d much lately, cool to see more progress on this thing.

It’s jb weld. Wouldn’t ordinarily recommend it for fixes, but the rust is stabilized, and it’s hard enough, flexible enough, and as long as it’ll adhere, cutting, replacing steel, and catching the pinholes only is a better option than fiberglass patching.

It’s had that trouble spot since I got it - I fixed the trunk first, since it didn’t require this level of teardown. Now this is done, there’s just a couple of spots in the doors and one in the right front fender. Nothing bad.
